Stormy weather didn’t stop this barn wedding in Charleston, South Carolina from being amazing! In fact, I think it made us a little lucky with some of the photo ops that we were able to have! Being able to take a beautiful couple and play in the rain is a photographer’s dream anyways 😉
Catherine and Ryan’s barn wedding in Charleston, South Carolina was filled to the brim with sweet and sentimental moments! Some of our favorites were the gift exchanges they did with their loved ones. Catherine gifted her mom a set of mother and daughter friendship rings. Her mother-in-law gave Catherine the sweetest welcome to the family, and it made this momma of two sons tear up. Truly, I hope one day to have that kind of relationship with whomever my boys marry.
Ryan got teary-eyed when he received a handkerchief in memory of his Popee. Catherine also had his Popee’s handwriting engraved on Ryan’s wedding ring. Isn’t that the sweetest thing? As the day went on, the chance of rain went up. In fact, it started lightly raining about 15 minutes before the ceremony started. That light rain quickly turned into a full-on downpour, which resulted in a last-minute change to the rain plan.
Everybody teamed up to make sure the chapel was ready for the cermony as quickly as possible. Even with the change, it was still a beautiful ceremony that honored Christ and joined these two together. The rain did clear up after the ceremony just in time for family formals and goldern hour portraits with Catherine and Ryan.
However, it did decide to come back during the reception, so instead of getting discouraged by it. We grabbed the clear umbrellas that Christopher and I bring to every wedding, and took our couple out for some nighttime portraits! They had a red vintage Fairlane that made an amazing backdrop for photos! Even with the adjustments, it was truly a beautiful day!
