Spring Wedding at The Sutherland

Brittany and Hunter hosted a jubilant celebration with their family and friends for their spring wedding at the Sutherland in Wake Forest, NC- the same town in which Hunter grew up in.

The Proposal

Brittany and Hunter met in college, and were friends for years before they dated. Hunter was always interested in Brittany and eventually made it out of the “friend zone”. They dated for a few years, then during the Christmas of 2020 Hunter decided it was time to propose. He set up a trail of lights of her to follow, and he was waiting under a waterfall with their dog. It was super romantic!

Their Wedding Day

When Brittany and Hunter started planning their wedding, Brittany’s grandmother was in poor health, so they decided to go ahead and get married with an intimate ceremony on the beach. Unfortunately, Brittany’s grandmother passed away the day before the ceremony. Brittany and Hunter’s celebration took place on the one year anniversary or her passing. Brittany wore a necklace of her grandmother’s on their wedding day. It was an elegant gold necklace with diamonds on it and the perfect family heirloom!

Brittany designed her invitation suite herself. What she designed really spoke to how modern and chic her and Hunter’s tastes are. The blush tones of the invitation suite and their monogrammed wax seals helped to set the tone for the affair they would be hosting. It coordinated so beautifully with the varying shades of blush and blue that the bridesmaids wore. The gentleman wore navy tuxes with black bowties for a classic meets modern look.

The Ceremony at the Sutherland

Tre Bella created beautiful floral displays that took center stage as far as details were concerned that day. The couple had an asymmetrical ceremony arch of white flowers to stand under as they read their personal vows to one another. As guests walked up to the ceremony site there was a boxwood and floral wall with shelves that had glasses of champagne for guests to enjoy before the ceremony, this was a nod to Brittany’s love of wine and champagne. This wall was later repurposed for the backdrop of the lounge area of the reception.

Brittany’s niece who was also her flower girl was adorable! She was a barefoot princess as she wandered about the venue in her lace and tulle dress. She stole the show during the ceremony as she wandered about the space.

The reception was truly a jubilant celebration of Hunter and Brittany The couple’s first dance was Ben Rector’s “Forever Like That.” Since they both love donuts, they opted for a donut wall with various flavors from Duck Donuts in lieu of cake. This was a favorite among her guests! Brittany changed into a sleek floor-length dress with sheer puff sleeves for her reception, and she looked fabulous!
