One question that Christopher and I get asked periodically is, “What is the point of engagement photos?” So let’s dive right in and discuss!
TO GET COMFORTABLE
Most of our TR Couples haven’t had professional photos made together before, and that’s ok! By having an engagement session, you’re able to get some practice in front of the camera without the pressure of your wedding day. Engagement sessions can be a really laid-back and fun time! Having engagement photos made also allows you and your fiancé to get comfortable with me and Christopher. Not only will you get to know us, you will also get to know how we coach you two into poses so that we can have some genuine images of the two of you! We will learn how you interact together, which makes things very seamless for the wedding day!
WE GET TO KNOW THE BEST ANGLES AND POSES FOR YOU AND YOUR FIANCE
Not only will we all get comfortable with each other during your engagement photos, we will also get to know what poses work best for you and your fiancé! Poses that work well for a couple with similar heights make not work as well for a couple with a drastic height difference- and that is totally fine! By having an engagement session, we are clued in to what tweaks we need to make to our posing prior to the wedding day so that you’ll look fabulous in front of the camera!
GREAT TIME TO USE YOUR HAIR AND MAKEUP TRIAL
If you aren’t having a bridal portrait session, your engagement session can be a great time to take advantage of your hair and makeup trial! Not only will get familiar with your hair and makeup team, you will also see how your bridal makeup looks on camera. This will give you plenty of time to make any adjustments that you need to!
TAKE SOME GORGEOUS PHOTOS FOR YOUR SAVE THE DATES
So many of our TR Couples love to use their engagement photos for their save the dates! You typically send these out 9-12 months prior to your wedding date. What’s great about save the dates is that they help set the tone for the formality of your wedding. If you select a more formal outfit for the session, this helps to clue guests in to how formal they should dress for your wedding. The same goes for if you choose a sundress or jeans instead!
IT’S A GREAT TIME TO CELEBRATE AND RECONNECT DURING THE WEDDING PLANNING PROCESS
By the time your engagement session arrives, you are in full blown wedding planning mode. Things have likely gotten a little bit stressful at this point. Our goal for your session is to not only capture some genuine images of the two of you, but to also help you feel more in love with one another by the time we’re done taking photos!
