One thing Christopher and I have loved doing since moving back home almost two years is ago, is exploring the area. We love supporting local events and businesses. On our adventures, we have came across some fun activities to do for date nights. So today, we’re sharing a few of our favorites for spring time below.
1. HAVE A PICNIC AT DUKE GARDENS.
If you haven’t been, Duke Gardens is absolutely gorgeous especially in the spring time when the flowers are blooming. It’s so peaceful to just stroll around the gardens and take in the stunning views. Grab your favorite blanket, pack your perfect picnic lunch ( or pick up Chipotle to go if you’re like us!), grab a board game, and enjoy!
2. EAT OUTSIDE AT TYLER’S TAPROOM IN DURHAM.
Tyler’s Taproom is one of our favorite places to eat in downtown Durham- especially when the weather is pleasant. I personally love to get their wings, and don’t get me started on their garlic fries. They will make you slap your momma (just kidding!) We especially love the Durham location because it’s located right in the middle of the American Tobacco Campus in downtown. You can finish the evening off with a romantic stroll.
3. GO TO THE STATE FARMER’S MARKET IN DOWNTOWN RALEIGH.
So this isn’t something we’ve done yet, but place to in the next few weeks as the weather warms up. We’re all about supporting local farmers, and I want to get some plants for our flower gardens that we’re planting this spring. We’ve also heard amazing things about the State Farmers Market Restaraunt and the NC Seafood Restaurant at the Farmers Market. I’m sure we will try one of these when we go so I’ll be sure to update you!
4. GRAB AN ICE CREAM CONE.
Once the weather starts warming up we love to grab an ice cream cone (rocky road for me!). Our two favorite places to go are Sunni Sky’s in Angier- it’s such a hole in the wall and can be a little chaotic when you go because it is SO busy, but it’s worth it. They’re ice cream is home made and they have over 120 flavors. We also love Maple View Farm’s ice cream as well! We like to go to the actual Maple View Country Store in Hillsborough and get it for two reasons: they make their waffle cones in an actual waffle maker and sometimes they’ll have movie nights where you can watch an outdoor movie there.
5. VISIT DOROTHEA DIX PARK.
Dorothea Dix Park is right outside of downtown Raleigh. You have an amazing view of the Raleigh skyline from the park. It’s a very large park, and it isn’t crowded at all. If you’re into childhood nostalgia, it’s the perfect place to lay in the grass and watch the clouds go by.
I hope you guys enjoy these date night ideas! I think they’re perfect for a dating couple, married couple, or even for families with kiddos. These are some of our favorite things to do in the area that we have discovered so far. Happy date night!
